I would like to send the following request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:
> Details on the following Anti-social behaviour categories at libraries and Customer First Centres (CFCs) each year since 2017:
- Assaults on staff and customers
- Threats of violence against staff and customers
- Verbal abuse
- Alcohol/drug use in the centre (including finding needles)
> Number of times police have been called to attend these sites each year since 2017.
Our response
The attached spreadsheet provides a list of incidents in libraries. The spreadsheet breaks the data down by each year. Each incident has been given a number and then lists what type of incident it was. For example an incident may involve verbal abuse and threats of violence, so it will have a mark in each of the columns. There were a few that were of a sexual nature that did not always fit neatly into the categories above. These are marked with an “s” rather than an “x” in the columns. Theft and damage to property have not been included, nor the times police attended on site for these, as they were not listed in they type of incidents you wanted information about.
