Your request
I'm hoping to get information on housing estate density for Lambeth to aid with research into estate regeneration. As an excel file, please can you provide the following for each estate owned by the council:
• land area (for example in hectares)
• number of dwellings
• Address or post code
Our response
Please refer to the attached spreadsheet, which includes numbers of properties against each block/estate.
With regard to your request for the land area in hectares and postcodes, please note that under FOI Section 1(1) any person making a request for information to a public authority is entitled (a) to be informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds information of the description specified in the request (b) if that is the case, to have that information communicated to them.
I am advised by my colleagues that Lambeth Council does not hold any such information. This is because we do not hold hectare information and because one estate could have multiple postcodes
Consequently, the answer to Section 1(1)(a) is no and thus our further duty under 1(1)(b) does not arise on this occasion
