- The total amount of textile waste produced in the city each year (kg/tonnes)
The Authority does not currently operate a textiles collection service. However, recent waste composition analysis has indicated that approx. 3.3% of residual waste is textiles. This would amount to an estimated 2,927 tonnes per annum based on 20/21 annual residual waste tonnage. In addition to this, the Authority has arrangements with independent companies to host their textiles banks on Lambeth highway. There are currently 75 banks of which collected 207 tonnes of textiles in the year 20/21.

The Authority does not operate a textile collection service. It is assumed that the textiles disposed of within domestic residual waste and within on street banks is non-commercial but this cannot be confirmed.

All textiles collected in the on street banks on the public highway is either sent for reuse or recycled. During the year 20/21 this was 207 tonnes.

All textiles disposed of through the residual waste stream will be sent to an energy from waste facility. During the year 20/21 this was estimated to be 2,927 tonnes.
- What percentage of the total amount of textiles waste ends up in a landfill each year?
The Authority does not send any of its waste streams to landfill.
