How fees are set
The London Local Authorities Act 1990 (‘the Act’) enables Lambeth Council to charge an amount to cover its reasonable administrative or other costs in connection with its street trading functions under Part 3 of the Act. Pursuant to section 32 of the Act, the London Borough of Lambeth has determined and will apply the above fees and charges.
Illegal street trading
Section 38 of the London Local Authorities Act sets out the definition of 'illegal street trading' as any person who:
- engages in street trading in the borough in a street which is not a licensed street
- engages in street trading in the borough in a licenced street without the authority of a street trading licence or a temporary licence
Illegal street trading may result in the issuing of a fixed penalty notice of £150, prosecution and seizing of goods and equipment.
