A small open space in Herne Hill providing a vital ‘green lung’ for local residents.

Milkwood Community Park lies on the site of the old Nevill’s Bakery, which was demolished after the Second World War.

Milkwood Resident’s Association, Lambeth Council, and other stakeholders have since been working together to gradually transform the site into a colourful, safe and welcoming open space, with a wide range of facilities for play, sport and social relaxation.

The park contains a children’s playground, a multiuse games court, table tennis and outdoor gym, a community garden, seating, shelters and areas for wildlife, play and social interaction.

Milkwood Community Park is one of Lambeth's Green Flag Award-winning parks, and was the first in the borough to secure this coveted award. This award recognises the achievements made to provide visitors to and residents of Lambeth with a clean, safe, welcoming and popular open space they can all be proud of.
