Policy Q23 of the Lambeth Local Plan 2021 allows the Council to keep a list of assets that it considered to be of local (or greater) significance in order that they might be conserved.
This local list includes:
- Archaeology Priority Areas
- Buildings and structures
- Designed spaces and landscapes.
This is a local designation which is completely separate from national listing undertaken by government.
Inclusion on the local heritage list does not bring with it any additional planning controls but is a material consideration when planning applications are assessed.
Permission may be refused if the proposal may result in the loss or unacceptable alteration of an asset on the local heritage list.
