Gender pay gap reports

The gender pay gap report contains the mean and median differences between men's and women's hourly earnings and bonuses, the distribution of men and women across pay quartiles, and the proportion of staff receiving bonuses.

The gender pay gap report sets out the mean and median hourly pay for men and women, as well as the proportion of male and female employees across pay quartiles.

The gender pay gap represents the difference between women’s average/median pay and men’s average/median pay, expressed as a percentage of men’s pay. A negative percentage indicates that women are, on average/median, paid more than men, while a positive percentage indicates that men are paid more than women.

The gender pay gap measures differences in average/median pay across the council’s workforce. It is different from an equal pay comparison, which involves a direct comparison of 2 people or groups of people carrying out the same work or work of equal value.

Gender pay gap report - March 2025

Lambeth's mean gender pay gap is 2.67%. Women are paid £0.75 less than men for every hour worked. The pay gap has decreased by 0.71% from March 2024.

Looking at the median hourly pay, there is no gender pay gap in Lambeth, with the median male and median female employee paid the same amount. This is a slight improvement from last year’s median gender pay gap of 0.08%.

A key driver of the mean gender pay gap continues to be the underrepresentation of women in senior grades, although there has been a distinct improvement in the share of women in the upper quartile of earners compared to March 2024.

These figures have been published in line with gender pay reporting legislation, which requires employers with 250 or more employees to publish statutory calculations every year showing how large the pay gap is between their male and female employees.

Lambeth Council does not have a bonus scheme.
