Lambeth APHRs
APHR 2025 - Food Justice
The focus of the 2025 Director of Public Health Annual Report is Food Justice and covers the following matters:
- In Lambeth, the Council and partners are working together to help tackle the root causes of food insecurity and systemic injustice.
- We recognise the entire food system as a powerful lever for achieving broader social, health and environmental change.
- Food justice recognises food as a right. Everyone has a right to nutritious, affordable, reliably accessible, sustainable and culturally appropriate food.
- Good food is the foundation of good health. It shapes our development, brings us joy, sustains our bodies and connects us to the environment and each other.
- Good food means affordable, accessible and culturally appropriate food that is nourishing and sustainable.
- Addressing the food system goes beyond health and nutrition and can help tackle many of today’s biggest challenges such as climate change, poverty, human induced biodiversity lost and social injustice.
- A Food Justice Action Plan responds to some of the recommendations within this Director Public Health Annual Report and forms the accompanying Appendix to the Report.
