LJ Works

LJ Works will deliver approximately 1,750sqm of affordable employment space on an underused site in the heart of Loughborough Junction.

As well as creating space for small businesses and start-ups, the project will offer on-site business support and training opportunities in partnership with local providers.

The project is also securing the long term future of Loughborough Farm – a food growing project currently located on the site that offers food growing opportunities for the local community.

The employment space will be managed by Meanwhile Space, a specialist workspace provider, who has been based in Loughborough Junction since 2014, bringing vacant Network Rail-owned rail arches back into use for workspace.

LJ Works will also be home to Mission Kitchen, a commercial kitchen space operator, who will provide low-cost kitchen space and equipment to support aspiring food businesses.

There are also ambitions to offer construction training and build opportunities to local people as part of build stages of the scheme.

Lambeth-based building contractor HA Marks have been appointed to build LJ Works. The project represents a £2.5 million investment in the local area, with the Mayor of London’s London Regeneration Fund contributing £1.6 million and Lambeth Council around £900,000.

The project is intended to directly benefit the Loughborough Junction community and therefore local residents and businesses will be given priority when applying for space.
