Block 336

Brixton Creates will transform Block 336 into a premier disability arts hub in Lambeth, upgrading 4 existing studios and creating 4 new fully accessible artist studios.

These spaces will support disabled artists across disciplines including painting, sculpture, photography, and film.

The project will launch a studio residency programme providing free studio space and mentoring from professional artists for up to one year. Year one will host 6 disabled artists, increasing to 15 annually thereafter. Residents will receive tailored support in portfolio development, marketing, and networking.

Additionally, Brixton Creates will run 10 half-day workshops yearly in partnership with Share Community, Carer’s Hub Lambeth, and Baytree Centre. Each workshop will accommodate 8 participants and focus on creative activities like drawing, printmaking, and painting, with involvement from local volunteers gaining skills and experience.

Building on 13 years’ experience with disability groups, this project aims to remove barriers and broaden access to the arts for Lambeth’s nearly 30,000 working-age disabled residents, offering 250 people enhanced opportunities to engage in and shape their cultural community.
