Lambeth Somali Community Association (LAMSOM)

Lambeth Somali Community Association is a resilient, grassroots charity established in 1990, and is a cornerstone of support for Somali families and individuals across the London borough of Lambeth.

For over 30 years, Lambeth Somali Community Association has been dedicated to supporting and empowering members of the Somali community in Lambeth and the surrounding boroughs. Their primary aim is to address and alleviate the needs of our community, particularly those from low-income backgrounds.

Through decades of service, they have developed a deep and nuanced understanding of the complex challenges the Somali community faces.

They provide essential services, such as bilingual advocacy and guidance on issues including welfare benefits, housing, employment, healthcare, and children’s education.

Beyond their core services, LAMSOM organises regular community events that foster local participation and collaboration. These include cultural celebrations that highlight Somali heritage through poetry, art, storytelling, traditional cuisine, and more. Such events encourage mutual understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, contributing to a more inclusive and vibrant community.
