Lambeth Council aims to increase canopy cover across the borough and aim to plant 5000 trees between 2022 and 2026. Regrettably though, there are instances where we need to fell trees. Most street trees are felled because they are dead, irreparably damaged (for example by vehicle collisions) or decaying to the point where they are structurally unsound. The Council has received notification from BT of its intention to remove 3 public call boxes in the Borough that are no longer needed because of poor usage. The call boxes are located in the Streatham, Knights Hill and Brixton area. We want your views on BT’s proposal to remove these call boxes. We’re planning to create a new low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) in Streatham Wells, because many local streets are clogged by motor vehicles using them as a shortcut. By reducing traffic, we can support more people to walk, wheel, scoot and cycle.

We’re asking people who live, work and travel in the trial low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) to share their views by doing a survey. This is because we’re considering making the changes permanent after monitoring the LTN and finding that it has been reducing traffic in the area. The consultation is open from 15 November to 19 December 2021.
