We offer support to anyone caring for a child who is not their parent, including:
- Informal kinship carers
- Private foster carers
- Carers with a Child Arrangements Order (CAO)
- Special Guardians (SGO carers)
- Connected carers / kinship foster carers
- Adoptive parents who have adopted within the family or friend network
Support is available whether arrangements are short‑term or long‑term.

Practical advice and guidance
We provide support with:
- understanding caring arrangements and legal responsibilities through our pre information sessions
- navigating CAO/SGO/connected care processes
- referrals and providing support letters for housing
- referrals to PAC-UK for therapeutic support and mediation, and access to all of PAC-UK’s online programmes
- access to Lambeth’s Holiday Activities and Food Programme for carers during the holidays
- signposting to Kinship, the leading kinship care charity in England, who support all kinship carers, special guardians and everybody looking after a relative or friend’s child
- signposting to benefits and financial advice services
Emotional and peer support
We offer:
- monthly kinship support groups
- peer networks and community events
- training on various topics ie attachment, trauma and resilience
Financial guidance
We provide:
- advice on eligibility for SGO allowances and CAO
- support accessing the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund
- information on fostering allowances for connected carers
- signposting to local advice centres
Education support
Lambeth Virtual School offers educational guidance and support for children in kinship arrangements.
