Lambeth Heroes Award: Outstanding Service to Lambeth
The Lambeth Heroes Award awarded by The Mayor honours those who have contributed exceptional acts of service in the borough.
The Hero Award recognises a group or individual who our Mayor believe have shown significant and outstanding commitment to the borough in various ways, either as a powerful and standalone act, or as a continued and sustained contribution to Lambeth.
This could be helping in the community, improving neighbourhoods, providing a service, working in partnership with the council and organisations, building networks in the community, creating opportunities, and inspiring others in the work they do.
Sporting Achievement Award
The Sporting Achievement Award recognises anyone who shows a high level of achievement and is consistently improving and competing in their sport in the borough of Lambeth. Valid for individuals or as part of a team.
Your nominee would demonstrate real commitment and dedication to their sport. They encourage and inspire others to take up physical fitness to improve health and well-being in Lambeth. They also make a positive impact on our most vulnerable and the younger generation in the borough.
Artistic and Cultural Achievement Award
The Artistic and Cultural Achievement Award is the opportunity to celebrate the talent that we have in the arts and cultural sector across the borough of Lambeth.
Lambeth has strong institutions that help shape a unique cultural offer – from Waterloo and South Bank, to the vibrance of Brixton and local high streets of Streatham and West Norwood.
The award is for those who have contributed to the art community in Lambeth, inspiring the next generation of artists and cultural leaders. Providing skills and opportunities for underrepresented groups.
Volunteer of the Year Award
The Volunteer of the Year Award is to celebrate and recognise the amazing and much-valued work done by volunteers in Lambeth.
Many organisations in the borough rely solely on the work of volunteers and would struggle to operate without this valuable support. Residents who need support are also reliant on volunteers to assist in daily life.
This award recognises an individual, community or voluntary group that has made a difference to their community by supporting the development of strong sustainable neighbourhoods, reducing inequality, and creating opportunities for growth.
You would be nominating an individual or group that has made an outstanding contribution in terms of their dedication and commitment as a volunteer. They should make a difference to the community they serve, actively build good working relationships, and help other volunteers. They must act as a positive role model and champion volunteering by always presenting a professional image.
Lambeth Young Achiever / Rising Star Award
The Lambeth Young Achiever / Rising Star Award recognises an inspiring young person who in an organisation/education setting has shown exceptional promise and significant growth and contributed greatly to something, showing leadership, responsibility and impact.
Our young people are the future of our borough and Lambeth is committed to investing in this future generation.
Commitment to Climate Justice Award
The Commitment to Climate Justice Award seeks to identify those organisations or individuals who are working to find a solution to the climate crisis making the borough a more sustainable and climate-resilient place for everyone.
Lambeth Council’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) sets out a vision and 20 goals for our borough to become zero-compatible and climate resilient by 2030. The council is working with organisations, businesses and residents to tackle this climate crisis together.
For their actions and continuous work to tackle the climate crisis, we want to thank those working on this issue.
Equity and Justice Award
Our new Borough Plan: Lambeth 2030, sets out an ambitious vision for the future of our magnificent borough, focused on equity and social justice.
The Equity and Justice Award will recognise those who have worked to advance equity and social justice for the diverse communities of Lambeth. They will have done this by addressing inequities across areas due to longstanding systemic racism and/or social injustice – this could include improving health and wellbeing and reducing inequalities in health, climate, technology, housing, valuing refugees, migrant and those seeking sanctuary. Lambeth have gained official Borough of Sanctuary status – becoming only the second London Borough to achieve this.
Through your nominees’ actions they have made a difference to individuals across Lambeth, and we want to honour their work and the impact they’ve had to make Lambeth a fairer and better place for our neighbourhoods and communities and feel like home for everyone.
Business Award
The Business Award is an opportunity to celebrate our fantastic local businesses and the outstanding contributions they make to the borough.
Across Lambeth, we know there are many businesses working hard to provide opportunities and boost growth to benefit their local communities.
We want to celebrate businesses that make Lambeth a great place to live, work and conduct business.
We want to know what businesses stand out to you. Whether it’s because they are doing their bit to tackle climate change, they are part of the growing creative sector, a business that harnesses young talent or one that goes that bit further to support the local community in achieving great things.
Safer Lambeth Award
The Safer Lambeth Award is for local people and organisations who make a positive difference by improving safety across Lambeth.
From road safety, and supporting those who experience domestic violence, to preventing and/or responding to violence affecting young people. Everyone has the right to feel safe from harm and crime and we want to recognise the important and vital work and projects that individuals and groups do day-in-day-out in their neighbourhoods to make them safer for all.
Councillors Choice – Lambeth Innovative Local Service Award
The Councillors Choice Award focuses on those who have promoted and/or delivered innovation within Lambeth at a time of high challenge and need.
Lambeth Councillors are invited to nominate an individual or group from their local area that creates value for Lambeth, to be a recipient of this forward-thinking award.
Innovation requires creativity and inspiration, along with the drive to want to do things differently. This award is to recognise those who showcase their creativity across areas such as service delivery, or building citizen-focused projects and spaces, or promoting diversity, equity and tackling inequality, whilst continuing to inspire others to innovate.

Other (Special Recognition) Award
The ‘Other’ (Special Recognition) Award recognises those individuals or groups who have shown acts of kindness, where no act is too small or too large. The award recognises individuals or groups who are highly talented and have achieved extraordinary achievements or performed acts of heroism.
