Mayor’s Award for Young Citizen of the Year

Work supporting the development of young people’s aspirations is close to the Mayor of Lambeth’s heart. 

Do you know an inspiring young person who, in an organisation or education setting, has shown exceptional promise and contributed greatly to a project or group, showing leadership, responsibility and impact? If so, we are asking to nominate them! 

The Mayor will personally choose the winner of this award from the nominations received.

Lambeth Ambition: Equity and Justice 

This ambition focuses on promoting equity and justice, which includes supporting the development of young people's aspirations and recognising their contributions to the community. 

Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year Award is to celebrate and recognise the amazing and much-valued work done by volunteers in Lambeth.

Many organisations in the borough rely solely on the work of volunteers and would struggle to operate without this valuable support. Residents who need support are also reliant on volunteers to assist in daily life.

This award shows appreciation to an individual who has selflessly contributed to making a positive difference in their community.

Lambeth Ambition: Making Lambeth Neighbourhoods Fit for the Future

Volunteers play a crucial role in building vibrant, supportive communities, which aligns with the ambition to create neighbourhoods where people can lead healthier, happier lives. 

Climate and Green Spaces Award

This award celebrates and recognises work that contributes to tackling the climate crisis or enhancing the natural environment of parks and green spaces in the borough. 

Lambeth Council’s Climate Action Plan sets out a vision and 20 goals for our borough to become zero-compatible and climate-resilient by 2030.

The council would like to recognise the amazing work that community groups and volunteers do which contributes to these goals, and the work on parks and green spaces which enhance our wellbeing and improve air quality.

Lambeth Ambition: Climate Resilience

This award directly supports the ambition to make Lambeth a climate-resilient borough by 2030, recognising efforts to tackle the climate crisis and enhance green spaces. 

Safer Lambeth Award

This award is for local people and organisations who make a positive difference by improving safety across Lambeth.

From street safety to supporting those who experience domestic violence and preventing violence affecting young people, this award recognises the important and vital work and projects that community groups do day-in-day-out in their neighbourhoods to make them safer for all.  

Lambeth Ambition: One of the Safest Boroughs in London

This ambition is about improving safety across Lambeth, making it a safer place for all residents, which is exactly what this award aims to celebrate. 

Thriving Communities Award

This award recognises voluntary and community groups who have been instrumental in removing barriers and making people feel not just included but welcomed in making Lambeth their home.   Lambeth is a proud borough of diversity, home to the Windrush Generation and Lambeth Pride, and a recognised Borough of Sanctuary.  From neighbourhood forums to sanctuary support and homeless day centres,

This ambition focuses on making Lambeth a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone, reflecting the spirit of this award which recognises efforts to remove barriers and foster inclusivity. 

Arts and Cultural Heritage Award

This award is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse community cultural organisations that work to shape Lambeth’s unique identity.  

Lambeth is rich in examples of cultural activism and artistic expression, from murals to carnival groups, poets to film festivals.  

The award is for those who have contributed to the arts and heritage scene in Lambeth, inspiring the next generation of artists and cultural leaders, expressing the voices and celebrating the identities of diverse communities in the borough.

Celebrating the arts and cultural heritage aligns with the ambition to maintain and enhance Lambeth’s unique cultural offer, inspiring future generations and providing opportunities for underrepresented groups. 

Social Enterprise Award

This award is an opportunity to celebrate community enterprises and the outstanding contributions they make to the borough. 

Across Lambeth, we know there are many social enterprises working hard to provide opportunities and boost growth to benefit their local communities while also driven by values-led missions. Whether it’s because they are part of the growing creative sector, a social enterprise that harnesses young talent or one that responds to community needs, the Social Enterprise Award recognises the entrepreneurs and social enterprises who make a positive difference to our borough.

Lambeth Ambition: Economic Growth and Community Benefit

This award aligns with the ambition to support community enterprises that drive economic growth and benefit local communities, reflecting the values-led missions of these businesses. 

Health and Wellbeing Award

This award would like to recognise all the work and care delivered by community organisations in supporting Lambeth residents in their journeys to improving and maintaining healthy lives and increasing resilience and wellbeing.

Many voluntary and community sector organisations have been responding to health and wellbeing needs in the community and offering sport, socialising and healthy eating activities which support improved mental and physical health for people of all ages.

Recognising efforts to support mental health and wellbeing aligns with the ambition to ensure residents can lead healthier, happier lives, particularly those facing adverse circumstances. 

Empowering Young People Award

This award will recognise a Voluntary and Community Sector organisation which has done outstanding work over the past year to provide services for Lambeth’s young residents.

Lambeth is lucky to have a wealth of community provision for children and young people’s activities. Voluntary and Community Sector groups offer services and activities for all ages ranging from youth hub after-school activities to city farm educational workshops to educational sessions for families about online safety. 

Community groups offer support for families with English as an Additional Language, spaces for girls to develop their potential, stay and play sessions which can be so important for new parents and children under 5 and many other varied services.

Lambeth Ambition: Collaboration

By fostering partnerships with schools, community organisations, and businesses, Lambeth ensures that young people have access to a wide range of resources and support networks. This collaborative approach helps create a strong, supportive community for young residents
