Details of car parks, on-street parking and parking charges within Lambeth. 

Parking bays

When using a parking bay, check the controlled hours that apply to it. Park within the bay markings to ensure your vehicle is not causing danger, obstruction or congestion.

Vehicles not parked correctly may be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice.

Types of parking bay in Lambeth

Residents' parking bay

You must have an active e-permit for the zone you intend to park in - check your e-permit code matches what is displayed on the timeplate. Teachers' and Visitors' permits are also valid in these bays, providing their zone code matches what is displayed on the timeplate. We advise all permit holders to check their online account and familiarise themselves with their e-permit code. 

'Pay for' parking bay

Parking can be paid for by calling PaybyPhone by 020 7005 0055 or by downloading the PaybyPhone app. We recommend calling in advance to to set up an account. 

Alternatively you can pay cash at a PayPoint store. To find your nearest PayPoint store, you can text CASH, along with the location code of where you are parked to 60075.

To pay for parking at a PayPoint store, you need the PayByPhone location code and your vehicle registration number.

Disabled person's parking bay

You must hold and display a Blue Badge in order to park in a disabled person's parking bay. You can also park in residents' and 'Pay for' parking bays, providing you display your badge. 

Business bay

You must hold a valid business e-permit.

Doctors' bay

You must hold a valid doctors' permit, which will include the bay number assigned to the surgery.

Loading and unloading bays (including red routes)

There is a maximum stay of 20 minutes in these bays. Constant activity must be seen in this time. If no activity is seen for five minutes a penalty charge notice may be issued.

Shared-use bay

You must have an active e-permit for the zone you intend to park in - check your e-permit code matches what is displayed on the timeplate. Teachers', Business, Visitors' permits and Pay for parking are also valid in these bays, providing the zone code matches what is displayed on the timeplate. We advise all permit holders to check their online account and familiarize themselves with their e-permit code.

Short term parking bays

The following free, short-term parking bays are available. You are allowed to park free for one hour, after which you will need to remove your vehicle. You cannot return to the same space for two hours:

  • 30 bays on Brixton Station Road (from Pope's Road to Gresham Road) and Valentia Place.
  • Four bays in Electric Lane (near the junction with Rushcroft Road).
  • Two bays on Saltoun Road (near the junction with Railton Road).

Timeplates

When parking within a Controlled Parking Zone, parking bays will have an associated sign/time-plate with information on the controlled hours and zone codes. The first letter of the code on the time plate represents the controlled zone and the second letter identifies who can park in that bay. For example, BR code - the B stands for Brixton zone and R stands for Resident, meaning only those with a Resident Permit for the Brixton Zone can park in those bays. A timeplate with the code KB - the K stands for Kennington zone and the B stands for Business, meaning only those holding a Business permit for the Kennington zone can park in those bays. Please check the time plate before parking to ensure your permit code matches the code on the timeplate.
