‘Find out if you need planning permission’ free online help tool
We are currently developing a free online help tool to check if you need planning permission for changes you have already made, or for changes you want to make, to a residential property.
About the service
The service is in development and should not be relied upon as official planning advice. Any assessment is based on the answers you give alone and is for guidance only. It is not an official planning decision nor planning or legal advice that can be relied upon for future application submissions. It will help you decide if you have permitted development rights.
Find out if you need planning permission service
This service does not capture any of your personal data.
What’s not covered
Some projects are not included in this service, such as:
- large scale projects
- applications relating to a planning condition
- applications affecting multiple properties
Historic information about land or properties
The service does not automatically include information about a property's planning history, such as restrictions on permitted development rights because of planning conditions.
Our online planning application database provides details of all decisions on planning applications since 1986. For cases older than this, we publish a register of historic decision notices. If you require further information in relation to historical information, you can request this information using the council’s pre-application planning advice service.
Help us improve this service
As this service is in development, you may encounter bugs and issues. We would welcome any feedback you can give us, positive and negative.
Use the feedback button to record comments or report issues as you go along.
Alternatively, you can email us your feedback at digitalplanning@lambeth.gov.uk.
