The Local Plan guides how Lambeth will grow and develop in the future. It sets out where new homes, jobs, infrastructure and community facilities should be located. It also includes the planning policies used when planning applications are considered.
The current Lambeth Local Plan was adopted in 2021. By law, Local Plans must be reviewed and updated regularly. We are now starting work on a new Local Plan for the borough.
Recent changes to the planning system have introduced a new process for preparing Local Plans. Under the new system, Local Plans must be prepared within 30 months.
There are also proposed changes to national planning policy, and a new draft London Plan is expected in summer 2026. The new Lambeth Local Plan will need to take these documents into account.
