Register a death

Use this guide to help you when registering a death.

Who can register a death?

  • A blood or marriage relation of the deceased.
  • A person present at death.
  • The occupier of the establishment that the deceased was in, for example, if they died at hospital - a bereavement officer, or, if they died at home - an environmental officer.
  • The person causing the body to be buried or cremated.
