Estate Renewal can be a long process and we know that residents living on these estates need certainty. This is why we have set out clear promises to those affected residents, with our key guarantees for secure tenants and key guarantees for council homeowners.
The key guarantees were designed in consultation with residents and independent organisations, and approved by Cabinet in 2017.
Where the council approves the demolition and rebuilding of an estate, these promises include the guarantee of a new home for all secure tenants, with the rent set in the same way it is now, and the offer of affordable homeownership for resident council homeowners.
The key guarantees also set out how the council and independent advisors will support residents through the process and how they can get involved.
