Pre-arrival home check

We will visit your home before or soon after your guests arrive to check that the accommodation you are offering is appropriate and that everything is in place for your guests.

We will get in contact with you to arrange this.

Caring for a child or young person

If you have been asked to care for a child or young person from Ukraine, then you might be fostering that child privately and you must inform the council.

You are private fostering if you are an adult who is not their parent, a person with parental responsibility, or an immediate relative (e.g. grandparent/uncle/aunt/sister/brother) AND you are are:

  • caring for a child or young person under the age of 16, or under 18 if they have a disability
  • providing them with accommodation for more than 28 days

If this applies to you, you must inform the council immediately so that we can support you to ensure that your home is a safe place for the child or young person.

To inform the Private Fostering Team, please email helpandprotection@lambeth.gov.uk

Thank you payment

All sponsors are entitled to receive a thank you payment of £350 per calendar month per household once their guests arrive.

Payment is subject to the completion of a DBS check for host and all household members.
