Advice and support

Lambeth Voluntary and Community Sector Support

The Council has commissioned a new service of support for the sector, to provide help, advice and advocacy. The Council’s VCS Team works in partnership with this service to provide a joined-up support offer for local organisations.

We strengthen local partnership working to help raise the profile of the sector and to coordinate activities across the Council.

To arrange a visit, contact: voluntarycommunitysector@lambeth.gov.uk

We also deliver volunteer fairs throughout the year, provide a brokerage site and a regular newsletter to promote opportunities. Email: Volunteering@lambeth.gov.uk

Leadership and Advocacy Support

Participatory placemaking organisation, The Brixton Project (BXP), will be leading on Leadership and Advocacy support for Lambeth's Voluntary Community Sector.

BXP will represent the diverse and dynamic breadth of our VCS on policy and decision-making boards across Lambeth and the UK. Feeding into those boards, BXP will launch a VCS Leadership Circle who will meet quarterly to discuss the needs, wants, and desires of the local people they represent in order to forge a strong and cohesive sector with equity and justice at its heart.

A programme of VCS Spotlight Events will platform the success of Lambeth-based organisations, exchanging knowledge, and fostering collaboration. Finally, a Leadership Mentoring programme will invite community organisations that are keen on growing their presence within the borough and beyond.

Lambeth VCS Directory Sign-Up

As part of Lambeth’s VCS Partnership offer, the Brixton Project is creating a new digital VCS directory on OnePlanet.

OnePlanet has grown out of the work of award-winning environmental charity and social enterprise, Bioregional. It is built upon the understanding that everything is interconnected, from health and climate to economy and crime. Without the tools to visualise, manage and nurture interconnections and collaborate with ease, we are left working to address challenges alone and in silos.

It is the only platform to make systems thinking and joined-up action easy and intuitive. It uses cutting-edge network database technology to enable easy systems-mapping of plans and strategies, visualisation, collaboration, monitoring and reporting using a simple methodology of linking outcomes (what you want to achieve) to actions (what you are doing) and indicators (what you are measuring). These plans and strategies can then be connected in 'workspaces' to enable collaboration around 'shared outcomes' and 'shared indicators'.

The Brixton Project is beginning by using the OnePlanet platform to store key information about the VCS, identifying existing and unrealised collaborations across the VCS with the aim of creating an interconnected and resilient net of service provision within Lambeth.

The directory will be publicly accessible via Lambeth Council and The Brixton Project website, and you can begin by submitting your basic details onto the database.
