Lambeth housing estate residents
If you are a Lambeth housing estate resident we can collect large, unwanted items that that can’t be reused or recycled.
You do not need to book or pay for a collection. There is a poster in your bin area that will tell the days we collect from your estate and when to present your items.
Bulky waste must be left within two metres of your bin area before 6am on the day of your collection, but after 6pm on the night before your collection day.
What we collect
We collect:
- white goods and large electrical items, including fridges, freezers, washing machines
- cookers
- lawnmowers
- carpets
- bed frames
- mattresses
- furniture
- televisions
- small electrical items
We do not collect:
- clinical waste
- hazardous waste
- e-scooter or e-bike batteries
- car parts
- tyres
- plasterboard
- garden waste
- rubble, building waste or waste in heavy-duty builders’ bags
- very large or heavy items, such as pianos
If you have a large amount of bulky waste to clear, our property clearance service may be more suitable.
Can your items be reused or recycled?
Items that can be reused or recycled include:
- bicycles
- electrical items
- garden hand tools
- items made from hard plastics, such as patio furniture, buckets etc.
- scrap metal
- items made from wood, such as bookshelves, tables, chairs etc.
Items in good, usable condition can be donated to local charities. Some charities offer free collections, like our partners Emmaus and the British Heart Foundation.
Items that can’t be reused but can be recycled, should be taken to your local recycling centre.
For household electrical and electronic equipment, most retailers must provide a way for you to dispose of an old item when you buy a new version of the same item. Find out about electrical waste and retailer responsibilities. You should check with the retailer to see if you can arrange a collection. Some retailers will accept smaller electrical items that have not been purchased from them directly if you drop them off in person.
