Annual Electoral Canvass 2026

We contact all residential properties in Lambeth from September as part of the Annual Electoral Canvass. Lambeth’s Electoral Registration Officer must undertake a canvass of all households in the borough each year to ensure that voter details are correct.

Expiring postal and proxy votes

Postal votes are now valid for up to three years. If you applied for a postal vote before 31 October 2024, you must renew it by 31 January 2027.

Permanent proxy vote signatures must be refreshed every five years. If you have been asked to provide a fresh proxy voting signature, you must do so by 31 January 2027.

How will I know if I need to take action?

Electoral Services will write to all affected postal and proxy voters from 5 November 2026.

Renewing your postal vote

Apply online to renew your postal vote

You will need to upload a photo of your handwritten signature in black ink on plain white paper. If you are unable to provide a consistent signature, you can apply for a waiver. If you cannot apply online, contact us to request a paper application form.

Refreshing your proxy signature

If you need to refresh your proxy signature, we'll send you a form from 5 November 2026. Return the completed form using our online upload service or the pre-paid envelope provided.

Deadline

To keep your postal or proxy voting arrangement, you must respond by 31 January 2027. If you miss the deadline, your arrangement will expire and you'll need to reapply.
