Safer Lambeth Partnership 

The Safer Lambeth Partnership (SLP) is the overarching statutory partnership arrangement, which acts as the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) for the London Borough of Lambeth. 

The Council is one of five statutory responsible authorities that comprise the local Community Safety Partnership including the Police, Health (Integrated Care Board), Probation Service and the London Fire Brigade.  

Our duties

To comply with the statutory requirements set out in the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, the Safer Lambeth Partnership must ensure it has formulated and implemented strategies for: 

  1. The reduction of crime and disorder in the area (including anti-social and other behaviour adversely affecting the local environment)
  2. Combating the misuse of drugs, alcohol, and other substances in the area
  3. The reduction of re-offending in the area
  4. Preventing people from becoming involved in serious violence in the area
  5. Reducing instances of serious violence in the area. 

The Safer Lambeth Partnership also hold other statutory duties either in its role as the local Community Safety Partnership or where it has adopted other statutory multi-agency responsibilities, including:  

  1. Ensure Domestic Homicide Reviews are undertaken, reviews published, and action plans implemented
  2. Ensure that Offensive Weapon Homicide Reviews are undertaken, reviews published and action plans implemented (statutory pilot until 31 December 2023)
  3. Establish a multi-agency board responsible for coordinating PREVENT – activity to prevent vulnerable residents from becoming radicalised into committing acts of terrorism
  4. Management oversight of the multi-agency Youth Justice service
  5. Have a process in place to review cases of Anti-social Behaviour where a local threshold is met, and to bring agencies together to take a joined up, problem-solving approach to find a solution for the victim.

The SLP is a formally constituted body that is overseen by an Executive Board, known as the Safer Lambeth Partnership Executive (SLPE). This constitutes the Partnership’s statutory ‘strategy group’.
