Lambeth Council aims to increase canopy cover across the borough and aim to plant 5000 trees between 2022 and 2026. Regrettably though, there are instances where we need to fell trees. Most street trees are felled because they are dead, irreparably damaged (for example by vehicle collisions) or decaying to the point where they are structurally unsound. Following the council’s decision to consult this area on proposals to extend the Streatham Hill East CPZ, we are consulting with residents and businesses on a CPZ in this area.

We’re planning to create a new low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) in Streatham Wells, because many local streets are clogged by motor vehicles using them as a shortcut. By reducing traffic, we can support more people to walk, wheel, scoot and cycle.

We’re asking people who live, work and travel in the trial low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) to share their views by doing a survey. This is because we’re considering making the changes permanent after monitoring the LTN and finding that it has been reducing traffic in the area. The consultation is open from 15 November to 19 December 2021.

Lambeth Bee Roads is a series of proposed greening projects to convert grassland and tarmac alongside roads into meadows, rain gardens, and wildflower planting.
