Lambeth Made Safer Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy 2021 – 27

Five Lambeth residents have had their lives taken from them because of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) since the publication of our previous VAWG Strategy in 2016. We know that more needs to be done. We dedicate this strategy and all our work to those who had their lives taken from them, and we commit to making Lambeth a safer borough for everyone.
This is our third strategy. It builds on the work in previous strategies and sets out our vision, approach and most importantly, our commitments to tackling VAWG in Lambeth. We have reviewed our previous actions and examined the data available to us to understand our successes, gaps and lessons learned.
From the earliest stages of design and development we have worked with those who have lived experience of VAWG. Experts by experience are best placed to advise on what solutions, support and services will make a positive difference to their lives. We draw on the testimonies of experts by experience who bravely describe the impact these lived experiences can have. We thank them for their contributions.
We also know that these issues exist across all of society and that we need everyone – residents, statutory agencies, communities, charities, faith-based organisations and businesses – to work together to make our borough safer. For now, and for future generations. We want to create a truly coordinated community response, and for that we need to work together, listen, learn and act.
Our consultation has told us what our strategic priorities should be and these will shape the work of the Safer Lambeth Partnership in tackling Violence Against Women and Girls. Our priorities for 2021-27 are:
- specialist support
- working together
- community response
- children and young people
- reducing harm from perpetrators
