Research and data infrastructure

We work to strengthen Lambeth’s research and data infrastructure. This means making it easier to carry out research and use evidence well across the council and the borough.

We focus on improving access to resources, data, support and guidance so that teams and partners can work together more effectively to improve outcomes for residents.

Research hub for council staff

We have partnered with the Corporate Research Team to create a central research hub for council colleagues. The hub brings together research guidance, tools, templates, and resources in one place, helping staff access the information and support they need to carry out and use research.

Ethics and governance processes

We are working with colleagues and partners to develop clear, values-led governance and ethics processes to support research across the council and the borough.

Linking and enhancing datasets

Different Lambeth-based organisations, including the council and the NHS, often hold information about service users in different systems and formats. We help bring data together and make it easier to work with and understand, supporting learning, decision-making and service improvement.

Adult social care and mental health

People with complex needs often rely on both adult social care and mental health services, yet information about their experiences is usually held in separate systems.

We have led the secure linkage of Lambeth Council’s adult social care data with mental health records held by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, using the Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) platform.

The linked dataset will be used to better understand people’s journeys across services, identify inequalities, and highlight gaps or delays in support. This evidence will support earlier intervention, more joined-up care, and better decision-making.
