What we do and why

Our aims

Our aims are simple. They are to:

  • empower Lambeth parent volunteers with children age 0-5 to use their lived experiences to share practical information and help other families access early years support - helping to give every child in Lambeth the best start in life
  • give volunteers new skills, confidence and opportunities that can open doors to training, employment, and wider community roles

In short, we help Lambeth families thrive while helping volunteers grow.

What we do

Parent Champions support families by:

  • connecting with them in children’s centres, libraries, schools, parks, events, and online
  • sharing information informally - through chats, flyers, and word of mouth
  • signposting to services like health and early learning, and encouraging them to use these services

We support Parent Champions by:

  • giving them ongoing assistance and opportunities to connect
  • offering certificates, references, and celebration events to recognise their work
  • helping them to build confidence, networks and skills for future opportunities

What we achieve together

Volunteers benefit by:

  • gaining greater confidence, knowledge, and skills
  • building strong peer support networks
  • getting a clear sense of value and purpose
  • accessing new opportunities for training, work, and community leadership

Families benefit by:

  • feeling more confident and supported
  • barriers to accessing services being reduced
  • feeling less isolated and more connected

Services benefit by:

  • becoming responsive and inclusive
  • developing stronger relationships and trust with communities

The bigger picture

When Parent Champions are active in the community, everyone benefits.

Families gain better outcomes for children’s development, education, and wellbeing

Volunteers gain long-term personal growth, resilience, career opportunities

Communities gain a stronger, more connected borough where parents’ voices shape local services.
