School Streets

Lambeth Council has introduced timed closures on streets around schools in the borough to make the journey to school safer for pupils.

Exemption terms and conditions

By applying for a school street exemption with the London Borough of Lambeth you must read, agree with, and accept all the terms and conditions as set out below:

I confirm that all information I have given to the council as part of my application is correct and accurate to the best of my knowledge

I understand that this exemption is not a parking permit and does not give me permission to park within the school street

I understand that I must inform the council if I cease to reside at the property for which the exemption was issued for, I no longer require access to the school street for which the exemption was issued for 

I agree for the council to cancel the exemption immediately if I cease to reside at the property for which the exemption was issued for

I agree for the council to cancel the exemption immediately if I sell or dispose of the vehicle for which the exemption is issued for 

I understand it is my responsibility to renew the exemption in good time, allowing enough time for my application to be processed

I understand that the council may prosecute me under the Fraud Act 2006 and any other legislation that may be deemed appropriate if I have given any information on this form which is found to be misleading or untrue

Use

Businesses, residents, or blue badge holders that require access can apply for an exemption to access a school street during its hours of operation

The exemption is only valid for the vehicle associated with your exemption; you can check this via your online account

The exemption is only valid for the exemption code listed on your exemption: you can check this via your online account

Blue badge holders can exempt up to two vehicles

Eligibility

School street exemptions are only available to residents and businesses within a school street, who require access during its hours of operation

And

Blue Badge holders who live within the school street or require access to the school during its hours of operation

Change of vehicle

If you need to change your vehicle, you will need to update your vehicle associated to the exemption via your online account.

Proofs required

For residents and business exemptions, the following proof is required::

  • You will need to provide copies of the vehicle registration document (V5/C) or valid insurance schedule, ensuring they are in the applicants name and registered at the address within the school street.
  • If you are hiring or leasing the vehicle we will need to see a copy of the signed hiring/leasing agreement. It must be on letter-headed paper and include the duration of the hire or lease period.
  • If you drive a company car you will need to provide:
    • a copy of the vehicle registration document (V5)
    • a signed letter (on letter-headed paper) from your company confirming your employment and that you are the keeper and user of the vehicle at the property address within the school street (must be dated within the last 3 months)
  • If you are a named driver but not the registered keeper, you will need to provide the insurance schedule naming yourself as a driver (this needs to be registered to the address within the school street).

If you fail to provide the correct proof/s, your application will be rejected.

For blue badge holder exemptions, the following proof is required:

  • Blue Badge (both sides)

 If you fail to provide the correct proof/s, your application will be rejected.

General

Your exemption may be cancelled without prior notice if you breach any of the terms and conditions
