Public Space Surveillance (PSS CCTV) in Lambeth

Lambeth Council has a legal duty to ensure that CCTV images and personal data are not disclosed unlawfully. CCTV footage is handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and other relevant legislation.

This online CCTV footage request service is intended for solicitors, insurers and other organisations or authorised agents acting on behalf of a client who require recorded CCTV footage for a specific and legitimate purpose, such as assisting with an insurance investigation or legal claim relating to a road traffic incident.

You must ensure that you have the appropriate authority to make the request and that any CCTV footage supplied by Lambeth Council is handled lawfully and securely. Organisations receiving CCTV footage must comply with their own data protection obligations and the applicable Data Protection Principles.

Important information

Please note:

• CCTV footage requests will only be processed where the requester meets the eligibility requirements and the request has a specific and legitimate purpose.
• payment of a fee does not guarantee that relevant CCTV footage exists, that it has been retained, or that it can lawfully be disclosed.
• the initial search and enquiry fee is non-refundable, including where no relevant footage is found or where footage cannot be disclosed.
• CCTV recordings are retained for a limited period, so requests should be submitted as soon as possible after the incident.
• where relevant footage is identified, it will only be released where disclosure is lawful and all applicable legal requirements have been met.
• CCTV footage may be redacted before release to protect the personal data and privacy of other individuals.
• if your request does not meet the eligibility requirements, it will not be processed. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the requirements before submitting your request.
• if you make a payment and your request does not meet the eligibility requirements, a refund will not be issued.

If you are requesting footage of yourself

If you are the only person appearing in the requested footage and there are no third parties whose personal data would be disclosed, you may be able to request the footage through a Subject Access Request (SAR).

Before submitting your request

Please make sure you provide as much information as possible about the incident, including:

• the date and approximate time of the incident
• the location of the incident
• details of what happened
• the direction of travel, where relevant
• vehicle registration numbers, where applicable
• any other information that may help us identify the relevant CCTV footage.

Providing accurate and complete information will help us locate any relevant footage and process your request as quickly as possible.
