Victims of crime
We are unable to process direct requests for CCTV footage related to crime incidents.
If you are a victim of a crime, or if your need for CCTV footage is crime-related, please report the incident to the police and obtain a police incident or crime reference number. The police can then directly request access to our CCTV footage. If the footage is available, it will be provided to the investigating officer handling your case.
How CCTV cameras help reduce crime
CCTV cameras are effective in deterring opportunistic crime, where individuals commit offences in the spur of the moment, by increasing the likelihood of being caught. In addition to deterring crime, surveillance footage aids in securing convictions, as individuals caught on camera are more likely to plead guilty, reducing the need for lengthy and costly trials.
Cameras frequently capture incidents such as robbery, traffic violations, theft, fly-tipping, drug-related activities, and other antisocial or suspicious behaviour, contributing to safer public spaces.
