Civil claims and third party requests
We can provide recordings from Public Space Surveillance (PSS) cameras for civil claims between individuals or companies. The most common requests are due to road traffic collisions.
If you have been the victim of a crime, been involved in a road traffic collision, or are an insurance company or legal representative, we are unable to accept Subject Access Requests in these instances as we can only provide images of you and not of third parties though the SARs process.
If you have been the victim of a crime, or it is a crime-related incident you should report the matter to the police by calling either 999 in an emergency, or 101 in a non-emergency, to obtain a police incident / crime reference number. The police can make a request direct to us to view our footage, which will be provided to the investigating officer if available.
If you have been involved in a road traffic collision and believe there maybe Lambeth CCTV footage, then you should contact your insurance company or solicitor to request the footage under Schedule 2, Part 1(5) of the Data Protection Act 2018.
Request CCTV footage
Applications for CCTV footage to assist with civil claims should be submitted by:
- solicitors
- insurance companies
- other organisations acting in connection with legal proceedings
Applicants should read the terms and conditions before completing the online request form.
Lambeth Council has a legal duty under the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 to ensure that CCTV images are only disclosed where there is a lawful basis to do so.
Fees
The following administrative fees apply to cover the cost of searching for, reviewing and preparing CCTV footage for disclosure.

Important information
Please note that:
- payment of the initial search and enquiry fee does not guarantee that relevant footage exists or that it can be lawfully disclosed
- the initial search and enquiry fee is non-refundable, including where no footage is found or where footage cannot be disclosed
- CCTV recordings are retained for a limited period, so requests should be submitted as soon as possible after the incident
- where footage is available, it will only be released where disclosure is lawful and all applicable legal requirements have been been met
- where applicable, footage may be redacted to protect the personal data of third parties before disclosure
