Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in Lambeth

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) chaired by Professor Alexis Jay OBE was set up by the government following concerns that some organisations had failed to protect children from child sexual abuse.

IICSA began the full hearings of its investigation into “Children in the care of Lambeth Council”, on Monday 29 June 2020 and published its final report on the council on Tuesday 27 July 2021.

The Council wishes to re-state our sincere and heartfelt apology to all victims and survivors of abuse and neglect whilst in Lambeth’s care. The Council, which was responsible for their care and protection, failed to do so with profound consequences. The council is deeply sorry for their experiences.
