Planning permission has now been granted to the project and works will begin in Spring 2022.
Events and workshops
We are launching ‘Revisiting the Rec’ an oral history project to create an archive around the at-risk and often neglected history of Brixton Recreation Centre. Working with social historian Kelly Foster.
Revisiting the Rec will gather oral histories and stage community events to collect, celebrate and share the rich tapestry of people, events and organisations that have created life at the Rec, preserving it for future generations.
At the end of the project, all of the material gathered will become part of Lambeth Archives.
We will also be looking at ways to support community-led events in the area and are keen to hear from any local groups who would like to explore this with us.
