Children’s centres and family hubs welcome all families and offer a range of activities, advice and support.
All sessions are designed to be inclusive. Some activities and support are also specifically tailored for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families.
These include:
SEND stay and play sessions
Play sessions for children with SEND where they can learn, play, develop social skills and build confidence in a supportive environment.
Sensory room sessions
Sensory rooms offer children a safe and calming space to explore different sensory experiences through play.
They can support children’s sensory, emotional, communication and developmental needs.
Speech and language support
Play-based activities and support to help children develop their speech, language and communication skills. Some sessions are supported by a speech and language therapist.
Advice and support
Specialist organisations offer advice and support for families of children with SEND.
One-to-one support
Better Start workers can provide one-to-one support to parents and carers and help them access services.
This can include support with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan applications.
Parenting courses
The Parenting Support Service offers group and online parenting courses for families living in Lambeth.
